Michael Schmitz

I am 20 years old and am a current undergraduate at the [http://www.washington.edu/ University of Washington] in the [http://www.cs.washington.edu/ Department of Computer Science] and the [http://www.math.washington.edu/ Department of Mathematics]. I have a strong interest in logic and programming languages, and I am currently pursuing research in those fields.

When I am not slaving away in the dungeon (the basement computer labs) of the computer science building, I escape outdoors and run or bike through the city, rock climb along I-90, hike in the cascades, or kayak through the San Juan islands. But there is also plenty to do around the UW, Seattle is a beautiful city, and downtown is merely a free bus ride away. And QFC, a late night adventure, has its doors open, just down the hill, 24 hours per day.

Everett, the city in which I grew up, doesn't exactly epitomize excitement, but interesting things do occasionally happen in the city. And my family's house in Everett is located in a beautiful area, nestled between a panorama of mountains that border the Puget Sound and the Olympic Coast, which is only a few hours away.
