I am Lia Noges, and I have a page on this website because I will be marrying Michael in 2011. I'm 24 years old and am working on my final year of pharmacy school at the University of Washington. I interned at Tacoma General Hospital and the Washington Poison Center. I have left both of those positions now because I am traveling around the western US to various practical learning sites. I plan to graduate in the spring of 2011, at which time I will dance in the street and resume all of my favorite neglected hobbies. Then I'll begin work as a pharmacist.

Ventures for the mind

I love pharmacy. Mainly because it is a career of gaining, evaluating, and sharing knowledge. I love helping people with their problems or confusion by educating them about health and medications, explaining disease processes and drug mechanisms of action.

Activities for the body

Hiking is my favorite form of exercise, though only slightly better than dancing. My favorite are day hikes, 10-15 miles, preferably with wildflowers and mountain vistas. I have done most of my hiking around Mt. Rainier and in the Cascades. Last spring Michael and I were fortunate enough to spend a few days in the Sierra Nevadas, which are marvelous as well. Argentine Tango is my favorite dance and the one I am most practiced in. I like it because it is meditative and structured but also graceful and intimate. Salsa is also lots of fun, as well as free style. Anything goes so long as you are with the beat and enjoying yourself.

Pastimes for the soul

A good dance session or workout does wonder for the soul. I also recommend a pint of beer with a good friend, a walk in the sunshine, and playing with dogs. Throwing pottery (on a wheel) is remarkably soothing to me, it's a hobby I hope to resume when I have the time, space, and money. I could make little cups and saucers, vases and bowls for hours. There is something liberating about working with your hands. It allows the mind to dance a little more freely.
